Fire marshal reports compliance over 80%; department welcomes new inspectors and highlights training

"We've crossed the 80%, we're at 81 and a half% compliant," DJ said, noting that District Six is at 100% and other districts are in the 93–97% range. Inspectors reported targeted work at multi-floor apartments and private hydrant lists from MDC to verify property-owner maintenance.
Personnel updates included certification announcements for Matt Rattler, Derek Wallenburg, Aiden Kissle, Michael Huk and Ryan Stabnik. The commission also introduced newly hired fire inspector Eric Chase, who spoke briefly about his career and first month on the job.
Training investments were highlighted: the department completed first training on a new roof prop and described how the device allows realistic roof operations and cutting stations. New Haven Fire Department toured the prop and plans to pursue a smaller or different configuration after seeing the device.
What happens next: the marshal will continue reinspection efforts and redeploy staff to close remaining compliance gaps; the commission will monitor training schedules and staffing as inspectors join the department.
