Forney ISD recognizes students, CTE and fine-arts achievements; announces OC business partners

The Forney ISD board meeting included a series of community and student recognitions.
Brenda Lopez, principal at Rhodes Intermediate, introduced Aiden as Rhodes Student of the Month and praised his leadership and classroom contributions. Administrators recognized Raul and Daisy Ceniceros as Virtual Academy Students of the Month; their parents, Eleuterio and Teresa Ceniceros, were present. The district noted its Virtual Academy is in its fourth year and is expanding to serve grades five through eight.
Dr. Stacey Ryan highlighted the district's "Get Fired Up for Reading" effort, reporting the community read more than 5.2 million minutes this year, and acknowledged campus- and staff-level participation and sponsors including the Forney Fire Department, Firehouse Subs, Crumbl Cookies, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Walmart, Atmos, and the Forney Education Foundation. Adalie Tucker of Rhodes Intermediate won the contest's poster prize.
Sarah Smith, Executive Director of Future Readiness, recognized CTE teams that placed second at the 2026 Texas ProStart State Invitational and noted students advancing to the Nationals competition and leadership roles such as a student elected state vice president. Janae Glanton recognized Forney ISD Fine Arts Academy dance teams that earned national championships and awards at the American Dance and Drill Team National Championship.
Robin Pierce, chief innovation officer, announced two business partners for the OC: Gelu Italian Ice (owners Seth and Jennifer Adams) and All Sports Outfitters (owner Robert Choppa), with an anticipated opening for the outfitter on June 1.
