Forney ISD updates on Jacobs Elementary, transportation facility and OC Academy expansion

Kim Mozek, associate superintendent, briefed the board on multiple capital projects in the district.
Mozek said Jacobs Elementary is nearing interior completion, noting the kitchen area is the last section to receive sheetrock and the building's finishes are coming together. She reported walking the site with Maribel Sanchez and her assistant principal and described the school as "coming along nicely."
On the transportation building, Mozek said office framing is complete and the shop area is closed in, roll-up doors are installed and paving and sod work remain. "The whole building is up now," she said.
Mozek reported Gil Wilson Way is complete and awaiting a city inspection and a FEMA Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) to remove a small area from the flood plain; she said the district is working to obtain the LOMR but noted federal agency schedules can delay that process. "It is done. It's beautiful. It's ready to go as soon as we can get it open for you guys," she said.
Finally, Mozek summarized OC Academy expansion activity: grade beams and piers are in progress, fence posts and parking/fire-lane preparation are underway, and the project is "shaping up and coming along very quickly." She closed by inviting board questions.
