During the June 17 meeting, township department heads gave brief operational updates and commissioners made community announcements.
Director of Public Works Dave Meeder provided an update on road surfacing projects underway in the township. Zoning Officer Jesse Hines reported on the demolition status of the former W. Rick’s building. Manager Tom Knights and other staff were present to receive these updates.
President Commissioner Jim Lokhaiser Jr. remarked on recent and upcoming community events, including Flag Day activities, Guys Who Grill, Community Day, the Hob Knob Theater and an upcoming Christmas in July event. Vice President Commissioner Sam Zurzolo commented on the Butler Area School District’s recent tax increase, and Commissioner Ed Natali discussed matters related to the recreation complex athletic field and the Friends of Preston Park dinner.
Pres. Lokhaiser opened the floor for public comment and asked for questions from the media; there were none recorded.
These operational updates did not result in formal board action during the meeting; the board moved to new business following department reports.
