Butler Township approves multiple land‑use actions, bond releases and personnel advertisements

The Butler Township Board of Commissioners on June 17 approved a slate of land‑use and administrative actions, including contingent final approval for the Autumn Woods Phase 2 development and several bond releases and reductions.
The action list began with Bob Brennen’s presentation of Autumn Woods Phase 2. Commissioner David Rice moved to grant final approval contingent on: compliance with Gateway Engineers’ letter dated May 22, 2024; executing a developer’s agreement approved by the township solicitor; posting financial surety acceptable to the solicitor; approval from the Butler Area Sewer Authority; executing a Storm Water Operation and Maintenance Agreement; and review by the Butler County Planning Commission. Commissioner Ed Natali seconded; the motion passed with votes recorded as Rice: Yes; Natali: Yes; Zurzolo: Yes; Lokhaiser: Yes.
The board also approved a reduction in the Duffy Highlands Phase 3 bond from $695,102.15 to $227,822.92 after a motion by Commissioner Rice and second by Commissioner Natali. A Quick Care bond in the amount of $115,946.00 was released contingent on receipt of an 18‑month maintenance bond of $27,144.00; the Dunkin’ maintenance bond of $24,982.50 was released; and the board passed a resolution extending final approval for the Butler County Area Agency on Aging until Sept. 16, 2024.
Acting on Oaks at Dutchtown, the board moved to rescind Belmont Properties LLC’s Phase 1 final approval and to leave the plan at a preliminary status; the motion carried unanimously. The board also authorized advertising for a Chief of Police position and, separately, for a Public Works Operator position (the meeting record shows the agenda item for the Public Works Operator but the transcribed motion language repeats the earlier phrasing for the police position; the board’s intent and the agenda label indicate the advertisement is for the Public Works Operator position).
On surplus assets, the board authorized sale of the 2013 F‑550 dump truck to Paul Kuss for $17,500.00 and the 2019 Ford sedan to David Diyanni for $7,303.00. Finally, Director of Finance Cheryl McNeill’s bills report was approved as presented. All recorded motions during the business portion of the meeting passed by unanimous vote.
The regular meeting adjourned to an executive session at 7:12 p.m.
