He said the lowest bid reviewed was about $6,300 and that revenue from auctioning surplus vehicles would likely cover the purchase.
A board member framed the purchase as a safety necessity. “You can’t skimp on that — somebody can die from that,” the member said during discussion. The board moved and seconded the purchase; a roll call vote carried the motion.
The trailer will also keep equipment out of the weather and improve efficiency when crews respond to water breaks and deep repairs. Staff will proceed with procurement from the lowest‑priced qualified bidder and arrange for sale of surplus vehicles to offset the purchase.
