Planning Board adopts negative SEQRA finding and grants final approval for Tesla chargers on Union Avenue

The Planning Board on June 6 approved final site plans for Tesla’s EV charging station project at 1401 Union Avenue, adopting a negative SEQRA finding for the unlisted action, waiving the public hearing and the need for a landscape bond, and granting final approval subject to building per the approved plans.
Franz Gerdes (Tesla) returned with photo simulations and additional landscaping details. Consultants recommended a negative declaration and recommended that limited landscaping not require bonding but be enforced through Code Enforcement at certificate of occupancy. Board counsel Dominic Cordisco said approvals should be conditioned on constructing according to the approved plans and paying required fees; any changes would require amended approval.
Gerdes said construction would take about six weeks once Central Hudson power arrangements and the transformer are in place. The Board agreed that final conditions should require the applicant to obtain any necessary utility and permit clearances before operation.
