Planning Board declares Britain Woods DEIS complete, schedules public hearing for August 1

The Town of Newburgh Planning Board on June 6 declared the draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for the Britain Woods project at 442 Little Britain Road complete for public review and scheduled a public hearing for Aug. 1.
Zachary Szabo, representing the applicant, said the applicant had revised the DEIS to address consultant comments. Pat Hines said the resubmission addressed tree preservation and technical comments and reported coordination with the State Historic Preservation Office where sewer and water line routing had been revised.
Planning Board attorney Dominic Cordisco explained that ''complete'' means the public now has sufficient information to review the project, but that completeness is not a finding of approval. The board directed the applicant to make the DEIS available on the Town website, at Town Hall and at the nearest Town library branch and agreed to the August 1 public hearing date.
The action moves the review into the public comment period and starts the technical review process required under SEQRA.
