The West Bend City Park and Recreation Commission conducted routine business May 28, approving March minutes, re-electing officers, approving a special event request, accepting community donations and announcing a new staff hire.
The commission approved the March meeting minutes and re-elected its chair and vice chair by voice votes. The commission also approved a request from Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to hold a Celiac Awareness Walk in Ragnar Park on Sept. 27 and voted to waive park rental fees for the initial event; police and permit logistics were reported compatible with the Alzheimer's Walk route.
The commission accepted a series of donations and sponsorships reported by staff: $23.50 in miscellaneous archery donations, $200 from the Riverside Disc Golf Club, $2,500 from the West Bend Mutual Insurance Company Charitable Fund, $1,250 from Westbend Company, $1,250 from Ridgeline Construction, and a $5,000 presenting sponsorship from Bank 59. Staff also noted voluntary donations from Victor and Miranda Ericson for Special Olympics.
In personnel business, staff announced Becky Tesman as the newly hired recreation supervisor to fill Ryan’s role; she will start part time the first week and move to full-time June 15. Staff described Tesman as holding a master’s degree in sports management and having roughly 10 years of relevant experience.
