Councilmember moves to table downtown development authority discussion until September

A councilmember moved on a procedural motion to pause work on forming a downtown development authority, saying the city’s recent event schedule and workload made September a more practical time to continue the conversation.

“I'd like to make a motion that we table any further discussion on the downtown development authority … until September,” said Bob, who made the motion. Another member seconded. The chair then proceeded to the next agenda item.

The motion was introduced during early agenda discussion and the council did not reopen the substantive merits of the authority at that meeting. Staff and other members indicated the topic would return to a future work session in September.
