Monticello council approves Walden Pond final plat and awards seal-coat contract

Staff told the council that the final plat complies with the city municipal code chapter 152.044 and that the preliminary plan and requested waivers were previously approved by resolution 98-23. The applicant, Kyle Kester of Monticello, and surveyor Brian K. Bradshaw, ALS, were identified during the presentation. The ordinance passed by roll call vote with councilmembers Reed, Woodham, Kerry, Lively and Burus voting yes.
Council also adopted Resolution 2026-34, accepting a contract to furnish and install materials for the city's annual seal-coat (oil-and-chip) program. Staff said the program will use $125,000 from Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds (line item 01-55173-02) and $10,000 from the general fund (line item 01-51571-05). Supporting documents attached to the resolution included the program map, the state's BLR12330 form, and bid tabs; staff reported receiving one bid. The resolution passed by roll call vote; the city administrator will sign the required BLR/IDOT form following council action.
The council approved the consent agenda earlier in the meeting (claims dated May 12'May 26, 2026; minutes; budget reports) and handled routine announcements during the mayor's report. The meeting adjourned after additional department reports and a brief discussion of possible drainage work near Overheim Park.
Next procedural steps: city staff will file the signed BLR12330 form for the oil-and-chip contract, and the final plat for Walden Pond Estates East will be recorded per municipal code requirements.
