The Belle Glade Community Redevelopment Agency and City Commission approved multiple procurement and land-use actions on Jan. 27.
In a CRA special session the commission read a resolution recommending CRA approval of Change Order No. 1 to the demolition services contract with BG Group LLC. Commissioner Reese moved the resolution; Commissioner Collins seconded. The clerk recorded a roll call with Commissioners Alazon, Collins, Reese and Wilson voting in the affirmative. The resolution authorizes use of CRA funds for the change order tied to demolition work related to NW 4th and NW 5th Street addresses.
Later in the regular meeting the commission approved the consent agenda (items 6–18), which included routine procurement actions, authorizations, and travel approvals, by unanimous roll call.
On second and final reading the commission approved an ordinance to annex approximately 36.2 acres (Abdul Muus No. 2 LLC, 1290 S. Main St.) and directed staff to take administrative steps to effectuate the annexation. The commission also adopted amendments to Chapter 29 (vegetation, weeds and grass) to authorize collection and enforcement of non-ad valorem assessments pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 197.3632.
The commission voted to appoint Vice Mayor Alazon as the alternate to Mayor Wilson on the Transportation Planning Agency governing board. Commissioners also moved and approved a motion to make LX the permanent city manager; staff were directed to prepare an employment contract and related documentation.
Where roll-call tallies were read into the record, the clerk reported votes by name (Alazon, Collins, Reese, Wilson) with affirmative votes recorded as "I." No detailed vote tallies broken out by yes/no/abstain appear in the transcript beyond the roll-call confirmations.
Items approved under consent will move forward to implementation steps and any required contract execution or administrative filings.
