Council asks staff to draft truck-route amendment for 8th Street blocks and considers J/H Street access alternatives

Members described that the requested change should allow access to the business’s lot off 25th and a short internal turn but should prevent semitrailers from exiting onto 28th Street where they create turning issues for neighboring homeowners. Council members reported field visits and conversations with nearby residents and the business representative; one council member said city staff (Aaron and Lisa) were amenable to using J Street and H Street routing to avoid the problematic turn at 28th.
Council asked staff to prepare an amendment that preserves local access needs while restricting truck movements off of 28th Street; Jeff and other staff will draft the ordinance language and return it at the next meeting.
