The Wayland Board of Registrars on Nov. 3 voted unanimously to authorize the Town Clerk and staff to perform certain administrative duties typically assigned to the Board of Registrars under Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 53, Section 7.
Town Clerk Trudy Reid asked the registrars to delegate those administrative functions to the Town Clerk’s office for routine tasks including certifying nomination and petition papers for local and state elections and assisting with the annual census. A motion to grant that authority was made, seconded and approved unanimously.
The board recorded no new business after the vote and adjourned at 6:13 p.m. The authorization delegates day-to-day administrative responsibilities to the Town Clerk and does not remove the Board’s statutory responsibilities; any formal changes to statutory authority would require additional procedural steps beyond this authorization.
