Council appoints Nicholas Kapoor to Monroe Board of Ethics

The Monroe Town Council approved Resolution 26-032 on April 6, appointing Nicholas Kapoor to the Board of Ethics with a term ending January 1, 2027. The motion passed unanimously, 7–0.
Councilman Meyer moved the resolution; Council member LePelles seconded. Council member Mauer summarized Kapoor’s background, saying Kapoor is a “lifelong resident of Monroe” who has served on the Board of Ethics, the Town Council and the Board of Education, and recently completed eight years as a commissioner on the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, including two years as chairman. The council also noted Kapoor is a professor and associate director at Fairfield University and has graduate degrees in mathematics, political science and business.
During committee review, Kapoor indicated he would recuse himself from matters presenting conflicts of interest; the council recorded his statement and passed the appointment without opposition. The council asked Kapoor to be sworn in by the town clerk later in the week.
