Council appoints Philip Payne to Monroe Historic District Commission

The Monroe Town Council voted unanimously April 6 to adopt Resolution 26-031, appointing Philip Payne as an alternate member of the Historic District Commission for a term ending July 1, 2028. The motion passed 7–0.
Council member Mauer, who moved the resolution, said Payne “has lived in Monroe his entire life” and described his background in history, archival work and museum exhibits, including internships in Plymouth and at the M Shed in Bristol, England. Mauer noted Payne holds a bachelor’s degree in history and education and currently works at Milford Photo.
The appointment fills the seat vacated by Nina Gadon. The council asked Mr. Payne to come to town hall during the week to be sworn in by the town clerk.
The council took no other action on the item. The vote followed the council’s routine consent and appointments portion of the meeting; the session adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
