Staff said the work aims to reduce user error and enable production of reports the county's contract cities expect.
Commissioners questioned where the money would come from. After discussion about line-item savings, one commissioner moved to approve the contract with 30% of the cost to come from the E911 fund and 70% from the sheriff's office account; the motion carried. The board asked staff to look for salary savings or other internal funding to replace the E911 portion if possible.
The contract was described as important to maintain the sheriff's office's ability to provide timely reports and maintain contractual value as municipalities consider their public safety service arrangements.
