The Bolton Fire Commission convened Feb. 23, 2026, at the Bolton Fire House, where Chairman John Morianos opened the regular meeting and Chief Dixon reported operational activity and next steps on a department strategic plan.
Dixon told commissioners that the department logged 45 calls since the last meeting, including six motor‑vehicle accidents and an electric pickup truck fire on Route 6. He said Tanker 234 responded to a barn fire in Tolland, Connecticut, and that the department staffed the station for two nights of storm standby since the prior meeting.
The chief said he and BVFD members Jim Rupert and Matt Perreira have begun working with a consultant identified only as “John” from Manitou Inc. to develop a strategic plan for the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department. Dixon said Pam Parsons, Perreira and he started compiling the reports the consultant requested and that meetings involving many BVFD members, town staff and the Fire Commission are scheduled March 3–6; Dixon said he would distribute the meeting schedule in the coming days.
On budget matters, Dixon reported no changes in the current budget process since the last meeting. He also provided training updates: member Josh Sawtelle has passed his Firefighter I course; one member is enrolled in an EMT class in Lebanon; and another member has begun the recruit class at Windsor Locks Fire Academy with the expectation of securing a career‑department position upon completion.
Procedurally, the commission moved to approve the Jan. 26, 2026 meeting minutes (motion recorded as CM/DM). The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m. following a motion to adjourn moved by Danny Moquin and seconded by Elizabeth Malone; the motion carried by voice vote.
The commission set its next regular meeting for Monday, March 23, 2026.
