To reduce beach alcohol incidents, council enacted a temporary ordinance banning public consumption or possession with intent to consume alcoholic beverages on the beach from 6 p.m. to midnight, March 7–23, 2026, with enforcement by the Port Aransas Police Department if life or public-safety issues arise. Staff also said they will pursue outreach to local businesses and short-term-rental operators to minimize large-house-party problems and coordinate parking-lot safety measures.
