County staff briefed the Property Management Committee on the pending Bank of America property purchase and asked the committee to recommend that the matter be forwarded to the budget committee for funding consideration.
The county attorney and staff said the county is in a final extension before a closing deadline and that contractors will provide firm construction bids next week; staff said title issues, parking-lot easements and settlement matters are largely resolved and indicated the closing would follow budget committee and full commission decisions.
Commissioners asked whether a formal appraisal had been obtained; staff said they believe an appraisal was done early in the project but could not immediately locate a copy and committed to provide any appraisal on file. Several commissioners asked to review the contractor numbers at the budget committee meeting (anticipated June 4).
On a motion to recommend moving the purchase to the budget committee for review, the committee recorded votes with some members opposing or abstaining; the item was forwarded for budget consideration, not as a final purchase approval.
