Committee approves executive session on security after routine approvals

At the May 26 meeting the LaSalle County Law and Justice Committee handled routine procedural business and then voted to enter executive session to discuss security procedures.
Early in the meeting the committee approved remote attendance for Joseph Lasapinski, who was attending for work reasons, and approved the minutes of the previous meeting. Both procedural motions were carried by voice vote; no detailed roll-call tallies were recorded in the public discussion for those votes.
Later the committee moved to enter executive session under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(8) to discuss security procedures and the use of personnel and equipment to respond to actual or potential threats to employees, staff and public property. The motion was seconded and the chair called a roll; members Wally Roach, Lori, Mike and Carol recorded 'aye' and the motion passed. The sheriff and undersheriff had requested the executive session earlier in the meeting.
The committee recessed into executive session to address those security matters; no substantive public actions on those topics were recorded in the open meeting minutes.
