Board members then discussed whether to continue meeting on the last Wednesday of the month during the slower summer season. Janet Buck proposed holding a fall meeting on Oct. 28 to review any applications and to check in on terms and service; other members agreed that date if no applications require earlier review. "Let's just make it October 28th," Buck said.
During a staff update, Jared reported the town is recruiting for three vacancies on planning and zoning bodies: one regular seat and two alternate seats, with new terms beginning in June. Jared asked members to encourage candidates with industry experience — planners, architects or builders — to apply. He also said staff had spoken with a new property owner near the rail corridor but had received no formal applications. "We have a pending annexation request on a parcel over on 133 next to Ross Monasuri School," Jared said, characterizing it as a county parcel; no formal submittal or application materials were presented at the meeting.
Commissioners noted several smaller nearby parcels that are not part of the current annexation inquiry and said it would be helpful if owners aggregated properties for a larger proposal. A member suggested offering a short refresher on variance criteria at the October check‑in for board members if the agenda is light.
With no public comment and no further business, a motion to adjourn carried and the meeting ended at about 6:41 p.m.
