Perkins said the draft design includes sidewalks from Stanley T. Williams to the library, a bike lane and a proposal to move a southern intersection to a four‑way layout with a traffic signal to replace several awkward turning movements. "They have been able to get sidewalks all the way from Stanley T. Williams up to the library with a bike lane," Perkins said. The plan also identifies potential right‑of‑way adjustments and turning‑lane changes at key locations.
Perkins said the design level now allows the town to pursue grants that require partial design completion and that a DOT review and an informational public presentation are anticipated in May. He noted the project remains at design and funding‑pursuit stage; implementation would depend on additional design development and successful grant applications.
Next steps include circulating the 10% design to commissioners, coordinating with DOT for comments, holding a public informational session in May, and pursuing grant funding to elevate design to later stages.
