Garwood swears in Sergeant Gregory Sanchez

Garwood Borough officials ceremonially swore in Gregory Sanchez as a police sergeant during a council meeting. Mayor Blumentock introduced Sanchez and administered the oath of office before family, council members and department staff.

Mayor Blumentock summarized Sanchez’s background, saying Sanchez “grew up in Jersey City and graduated from Liberty High School in 2003,” worked in the auto industry from 2004 until 2016, graduated from the Essex County Police Academy in 2016 and “joined the Garwood Police Department in November 2017,” where he has served as a field training officer and in internal affairs. The mayor also noted that in 2024 Sanchez received the Union County 200 Club Life‑Saving Award.
