Finance staff explained the district uses a state contract that sets prices daily for the Southeast region; because fuel is a fluctuating commodity the price is calculated at the time of order. Commissioner Divine asked whether the board could receive a monthly average price for recent purchases; staff agreed to research and provide that information. Commissioner Bishop suggested exploring electric vehicles for some fleet vehicles to reduce gasoline spending over time.
Other consent items included a contract for antivirus software, a MasteryConnect subscription, and the April 2026 financial report. The motion to approve the consent agenda passed unanimously.
The discussion produced two staff follow‑ups: provide recent monthly average fuel prices derived from the state contract and report back on possible timelines and partnerships to pilot electric utility vehicles where feasible.
