"We need to reassess every five years to ensure new technologies and strategies are reflected," Melissa said during the presentation.
Leandone, introduced as director for environmental justice work on the project, said the roadmap pairs modeling with a structure to evaluate distributional impacts. The presentation emphasized balancing cost, technical feasibility and community health outcomes: "Our priorities should include health equity as we design decision frameworks," Leandone said.
Presenters described an advisory structure — including an implementation advisory committee and topic-specific advisory groups — to provide guidance on equity and health priorities. The team asked council members to help identify priorities and community representatives for those advisory bodies.
The presenters also outlined public engagement steps: breakout discussions during the meeting focusing on decision priorities, definitions of success, and local roles in implementation; an iterative drafting process; and anticipated regulatory and legislative coordination.
Next steps announced at the meeting included breakout sessions for community input, follow-up on advisory committee formation and a commitment from staff to collect written feedback submitted via chat or email. The presentation did not include a final vote or formal adoption of the roadmap at this meeting.
