The presenter said some wells are redrills near collapsed or deviated wells and that the program will target west-then-east phases over the coming months.
The owner is preparing a new flare and related infrastructure, the presenter said. ‘‘We’re putting a new flare in next year’’ and are designing to achieve the required destruction efficiency for non-methane organic compounds; the presenter said flare operation aims for high destruction efficiency (discussed as 90–98% in meeting exchanges).
Leachate: the presenter said leachate hauling currently goes to the City of Salem under an existing contract and that hauling will continue; committee members asked about where leachate and biosolids are disposed and whether local acceptance is changing.
Committee members asked about the wells’ purpose (gas extraction and leachate pumping), spacing, timing and how the work will affect odors and operations; the presenter committed to follow-up where details were not immediately available.
What’s next: the presenter said construction and well installation will continue and staff will provide additional detail for quarterly reporting; committee members requested comparisons to historical quarterly tonnage and clarification on first-quarter tonnage declines.
