Green Tree council appoints Gregory Wilson as borough manager, effective June 1 pending checks

A council member moved that the Green Tree Borough Council appoint Gregory Wilson as borough manager effective June 1, 2026, pending background and credit checks, and the council approved the appointment by roll-call vote.

The motion was introduced during the meeting and seconded; in support, a council member summarized Wilson’s background, saying he has about 20 years of experience as borough manager in Lock Haven and maintains an “extensive network in the state, especially with the Department of Community and Economic Development.” The council member described the hiring process as a multi-stage search: the borough posted the job on multiple sites, conducted phone screens, held two interviews and an initial interview with council that produced two finalists.

Council members praised the candidate’s temperament and fit for the borough. “He was very warm and humble,” a council member said, adding that Wilson is not from Allegheny County and therefore would bring a “fresh perspective” to Green Tree.

The council carried out a roll-call vote with the following recorded votes in favor: Mr. Allen; Ms. Kasky; Ms. Godovec; Ms. Martorella; Mr. Panza; Ms. Schwartz; and Mr. Ray. The council then congratulated Wilson. The appointment is contingent on completion of background and credit checks before the June 1 effective date.

Earlier in the meeting, the presiding official asked the record to reflect that the council had met in executive session on May 11 to discuss personnel matters. The meeting concluded after a brief final call for public comment and a motion to adjourn.
