Council members asked operational questions about moving heavy rail equipment across the country. Metro Transit staff said freight operator BNSF would handle rail transport, not highway trucking.
The lease authorization passed by voice vote. Staff said Sound Transit will be responsible for costs including insurance, transport and periodic inspections required by federal railroad (FRA) rules.
