At its Oct. 14 meeting the Cohasset Board of Health heard its public health nurse report on recent clinics, inspections and regional coordination on vaccination guidance.
The public health nurse reported holding the first public clinic at Wilcott Commons from 1 to 3 p.m., with a "not a huge turnout" of participants. "Maybe 45. I think I counted 44 people," the nurse said. The nurse said additional clinics are scheduled this week (staff clinics and clinics at group homes on Elm Street) and that preserved inspections were completed and will be due again in early spring; the nurse added they will next focus on single‑family rental inspections.
On infectious disease trends, the nurse said there were not yet many confirmed influenza cases in town (one influenza B case reported about two weeks earlier) and that a few COVID cases had been reported but no recent COVID admissions primarily for COVID. The nurse noted that the high‑dose influenza vaccine appears to have helped reduce hospitalizations among older residents in recent years.
The nurse also described regional coordination among New England states (and other regions) forming a consortium for vaccination recommendations that may differ from CDC guidance; the nurse said they plan to follow state public‑health recommendations. The nurse mentioned attending an event at Walkerheads with "Mr. Kennedy." Board members offered no further questions.
The board set its next meeting for Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, at 6 p.m. via Zoom and adjourned the session.
