Board confirms Robbie Franks as Millington fire chief; department adds paramedics and firefighters

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen confirmed Robbie Franks as Millington’s next fire chief on March 9, approving Resolution 8-2026 by voice vote.

City manager Frankie Daken introduced Franks’ credentials: more than 27 years in the fire service, roles in the Memphis Fire Department including deputy chief of emergency operations, experience with incident response, apparatus procurement and station construction, and certifications including a master’s degree in public administration. Daken told the board the city conducted a nationwide search and recommended Franks for confirmation.

Chief Robbie Franks addressed the board, thanked city leaders and the department, and pledged to build on existing services, noting the department’s recognition for swift-water response and the priority of visibility and community engagement. He took the oath of office before the board.

The meeting also included a badge presentation and recognition of new positions: two personnel have completed paramedic training and were recognized as new fire medics (Katherine Curtis and Emily Foster); two new firefighters were introduced (Marissa Price and Alex Turner), with plans for Marissa to complete paramedic school and Alex to complete EMT training. The mayor and chief said the additions, together with a new pay scale for fire medics adopted in the budget, position the department to expand advanced-life-support services.

The board recorded the confirmation vote as unanimous; no yeas or nays were recorded beyond the voice vote.
