In staff testimony, planners recommended a vegetation or fence buffer between the existing apartment building and the proposed cabin site to preserve the cabin’s visual context.
George Kumer, speaking for the Landmark Trust, described the cabin’s provenance and the trust’s plan to reconstruct the structure on property adjacent to Grayson’s Tavern and Constitution Square. Kumer said the trust intends to gift the reconstructed cabin to the county when complete.
Commissioners voted to approve the zone‑map amendment and followed with a conditional approval of the associated subdivision, adding staff’s buffer recommendation as a condition.
