Pinecrest police unveil vehicle wrap promoting mental‑health resources

Captain Ivan Assaures, Pinecrest Police Department, unveiled a specially wrapped police vehicle that lists mobile‑response and crisis resources and described the display as part of a new collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Miami‑Dade, West Care's mobile response team, the Miami‑Dade Multi‑Agency Peer Support Team and the National 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. "This initiative is so important because it helps us to build awareness and destigmatize the issue of looking for help when you need it when dealing with mental health conditions," Assaures said.

Assaures said the wraps are intended to make information about local mobile‑response teams and crisis contacts easy for residents to find and to connect officers with behavioral‑health resources. "We're really excited about the unveiling today of the Pinecrest police vehicles with the mobile response team's information on them because it will allow our information to be easily accessible to the community and it emphasizes our collaboration," he said.

The captain framed the effort as both a community‑facing awareness campaign and an internal support measure for officers: "I am thrilled about today's collaboration because this will support our officers to ensure they receive the assistance they need and educate them and the community," he said. He added that the partnerships aim to "create connections that support healing and mental wellness in our community."

Officials named the partner organizations involved but did not specify how the initiative will be funded, how many vehicles will be wrapped, or the rollout schedule. Applause followed Assaures's remarks.
