The township’s engineer told the board that the long-delayed North Adams Street Bridge project has received the necessary PennDOT approvals and is ready to move to pre-construction once material lead times are known.
“I can finally say I come bearing good news,” the engineer said, adding that the contractor is awaiting confirmation from its steel supplier and expects to know lead time by midweek. The engineer said the contractor had previously estimated an eight- to 12-week lead time for the beams and is penciled to start construction in August if deliveries permit.
The engineer said he will coordinate a pre-construction meeting with the contractor and township staff once the supplier provides an exact lead time, and that accelerating work is contingent on material availability and school schedules.
Commissioners thanked the engineer and staff for persisting on the project; no new financial action or change order was taken during the meeting.
