Melissa Alexander spoke to the board about the Chamber of Commerce's recent activities, fundraising and plans to grow membership and programming.
Alexander said the Chamber raised funds through events including a December 'Taste of Farmville' and a Farm-to-Table spring event; she reported gross event revenues and net proceeds from recent events and noted membership dues collected year-to-date. She described two new programs ' an ambassador program to build volunteer capacity and an aspiring professionals (young professionals) group ' and said the Chamber plans monthly "chamber chats" and mixers featuring speakers to help local businesses.
Alexander reviewed upcoming events that aim to promote local businesses and tourism: a Barbecue Festival on July 27 (Duck Rabbit Brewery as a title sponsor), a planned October Fest (first Saturday in October, October 5), and future "Taste of Farmville" programming. She outlined vendor fees, sponsorship packages and projected revenues for those events and said the Chamber expects town support and local sponsors to continue.
Board members asked clarifying questions about event timing, historic membership levels recorded in Chamber files, and bookkeeping. Alexander acknowledged some historical file gaps but offered membership counts for prior years and current dues income. The board thanked her for the detailed report; no formal action was required.
