At its May 11 meeting the Harwich Select Board approved several licenses, permits and routine items.
Aquaculture license: After a presentation by Natural Resources Director Stephanie Rydenower, the board opened and closed the public hearing on a seasonal floating upweller propagation system for Aquacultural Resource Corporation (ARC) at 11 Harbor Way West and unanimously approved a license covering approximately 0.03 acres for operations April–November.
Restaurant liquor license: Attorney Matthew Kelly and applicant Frank presented a request for a seasonal on‑premises all‑alcohol license for Three Harbors Coastal Kitchen at 575 Route 28. The application sought authority for 100 seats and included onsite parking (the applicants said roughly 60+ spaces) and about 23 outdoor seats. After questions about seating and parking the board unanimously granted the seasonal all‑alcohol liquor license.
Other approvals: The board accepted a $200 gift from the Cape Cod Fishermen’s Alliance for herring‑run maintenance; approved Eversource requests to install distribution poles at several locations (board members pressed the utility about existing double poles around town); approved special permits for the American Lung Association road race (Sept. 25) and one‑day liquor/entertainment licenses for local events; approved a change of manager for Cranberry Liquors; and approved contract amendments for irrigation work at Cranberry Valley Golf Course.
Fee waiver and fees review: A fee‑waiver request from the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (for a 200‑person event) drew questions from board members about nonprofit rates and consistency; the maker of the motion withdrew it and staff will present a proposed fee schedule with nonprofit/discount options at a future meeting.
