The Darien City Council voted on June 17 to approve a resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with the Darien Park District for use of Westwood Park for the 2024 summer concert series, the city’s Fall Fest and the National Night Out police event.
The resolution was presented as new business. The mayor called for a motion; the motion was seconded and the clerk recorded a roll-call vote with seven 'yes' votes. Councilmembers expressed general approval and noted the agreement will allow the summer concerts to proceed on a schedule beginning June 27.
The agreement covers use of Westwood Park for concerts and community events; specific operational details and timing will be managed by city staff in coordination with the park district. Council members encouraged attendance at the concerts and noted that the Women’s Club and a local food pantry will collect cleaning supplies and canned goods at the initial events.
The mayor said the approved agreement supports planned community events, and the council moved to other agenda items following the vote.
