Council approves consent agenda including multiple grant applications and bond confirmations

On May 26 the Hackensack City Council adopted a multi-item consent agenda covering routine administrative and financial matters. Items passed included payment of bills; tax refunds; adoption of the Main Street Business Alliance 2026 budget; veteran tax exemption authorization; grant applications to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for municipal aid projects (Atlantic Street and Temple Avenue) and a Transit Village grant for Demarest Place; a Recreation Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities grant application; liquor license renewals; and confirmations of bond sales related to the New Jersey Water Bank financing program (Project 16 and Project 22).
Council members noted that several consent items (Resolutions 152-26 and 155-26) had been pulled for separate consideration. After the roll-call vote the remaining consent items passed.
The council also authorized a series of routine procurement and administrative tasks including the issuance of requests for qualifications for professional services and authorizing agreements for use of city and county property. Council members said items requiring additional discussion would be pulled in future meetings for separate consideration.
Next steps: staff will process the authorizations, submit the grant applications as authorized and bring back any items that require additional approvals or funding confirmations.
