The Port Chester Zoning Board of Appeals on June 20 approved favorable findings allowing Signs Ink LTD to install a post sign at 316 Boston Post Road and to place three signs at 13 Riverdale Avenue.
Chairwoman Evelyn Petrone summarized favorable Findings of Fact prepared by Village Attorney James Carpiniello before the board voted. For the 316 Boston Post Road post sign (Case No. 2024-0227), the board recorded requested variances including a sign area of 21 square feet where 12 is allowed; a proposed width/height of 72 inches by 42 inches where 48 inches by 40 inches is allowed; an apex height of 11 feet 6 inches where 6 feet is allowed; letter height of 14 inches where 10 inches is allowed; and proposed internal illumination that the zoning code does not authorize. Carpiniello presented the Findings and Commissioner Simmons moved to approve them; Commissioner Falk seconded the motion, which the board approved 5–0.
Separately (Case No. 2024-0228 A–C), Signs Ink requested three sign placements at 13 Riverdale Avenue in the village’s C1 zoning district—one wall-facing Putnam Avenue and two corner-facing signs. The C1 district does not permit signs as a matter of right; the board reviewed the submitted Findings of Fact prepared by the Village Attorney and, on a motion by Commissioner Morlino seconded by Commissioner D’Estrada, approved the favorable Findings by a 5–0 vote.
The board’s minutes record that the motions approved were the favorable Findings of Fact prepared by the Village Attorney; the minutes do not provide verbatim testimony. The approvals were procedural (approval of Findings) rather than a separate recorded amendable resolution, and the board’s vote on each motion was unanimous.
The approvals allow the applicants to pursue permitting consistent with the Findings and any conditions noted by staff; the minutes do not specify additional conditions or a final signed permit at this meeting.
