Middleton council approves reappointments, resolutions and a $37,500 change order

At its May 20 meeting, the Middleton City Council approved several routine and project-related actions, including reappointments, two resolutions and a small construction change order.
The council approved the mayor’s recommendation to reappoint Brent Bishop to the Middleton Urban Renewal District Commission for an additional five‑year term. Council members cited Bishop’s experience in local construction and his familiarity with urban renewal matters when moving the reappointment.
Council adopted Resolution 539‑26 to appoint Council member Mark Christensen as the city’s primary representative to the Valley Regional Transit Board with the mayor serving as alternate. Members said the role supports regional transportation planning and typically requires quarterly attendance.
On records management, the council approved Resolution 540‑26 authorizing the mayor’s designee to contract with Western Records Destruction to shred 30 boxes of city records at a cost not to exceed $450. Staff said the state archives reviewed materials and most identified boxes are transitory or semi‑permanent. The resolution was approved by roll call with Council President Walter and Council members Christianson, Anderson and Bryer recorded as voting yes.
The council also authorized a change order with Codings Unlimited LLC to add recoding of a 20,000‑gallon auxiliary reservoir tank to the Middleton reservoir rehabilitation project for an amount not to exceed $37,500. Presenter Miss Hobs said the auxiliary tank needs recoding and that completing the work while crews are already on site avoids higher mobilization costs. Engineering review indicated the additional work is appropriate and within the project's scope; the council voted to approve the change order.
Most of the items were approved unanimously after brief discussion. Actions were handled as routine or consent items when appropriate and will be reflected in the official minutes.
