The Lincoln Way CHSD 210 board unanimously approved a rental agreement May 21 to host a television pilot production at Lincoln Way North.
Under the agreement, the production would occupy the middle section of the fieldhouse from the end of May through mid‑August for an initial pilot period and pay $70,000 per month to cover the district's carrying costs. The district said rent and any additional charges for increased utilities would be deposited into Fund 60, the district's capital projects/nonoperating fund, and the district would not use the revenues for operating expenses.
District staff said the contract requires standard indemnification and proof of insurance, limits rental to specified areas so park‑district and school uses may continue in other parts of the building, and obligates the renter to restore the space to the same or better condition at lease end. Staff described hold periods if the show is evaluated and possible season renewals with adjusted rates for subsequent seasons.
Facilities staff said the production could bring hundreds of crew members at peak times and would prefer to work with local vendors for supplies and services. Staff also noted informal educational opportunities were possible (for example, observation visits by theater students), though such arrangements were not part of the lease.
Board members said the arrangement helps defray the facility's carrying costs while the district continues to pursue longer-term site options. The motion to approve the rental passed unanimously.
