Residents press board on $134,000 advisory-board funds, drought alerts and budget transparency

During the public-comment period, resident Stacy Hman asked whether bank statements from the advisory board had been produced and said the advisory board’s account held about $134,000; she questioned whether town or village funds given for seniors would be recovered now that the advisory board is inactive.

Another resident, who identified himself as James Jun, urged the village to alert residents about continuing drought conditions and local fire risk and suggested using a phone blast to notify residents. He also raised concerns about budget pressures — citing recent raises and unanticipated expenses — and asked trustees to track long-term fiscal impacts rather than relying on shifting money between accounts.

Mr. Jun also asked whether the board’s meetings should be held at the senior center to meet legal-compliance requirements and pressed trustees to show mutual respect on and off camera. He raised quality-of-life issues such as heavy trucks on local streets and urged attention to vehicle weight limits that he said shake windows.

What happens next: the board and staff acknowledged the public concerns and said they would follow up on procedural requests and communications; no formal board actions on the advisory-board funds or drought notifications were recorded at the meeting.
