Students’ designs picked for Church Street mural; Arts Commission plans community paint days

The Naugatuck Arts Commission presented student artwork and a plan for a Church Street mural, telling the board that 31 student submissions were reviewed and the top five will be used in the installation.
Jeff Erman, co‑chair of the Arts Commission, said the commission partnered with the school district and that the top entries will lead to a spring installation supported by local artists and community painting days. Non‑selected submissions will be displayed at the YMCA and the library for the month of March.
The mayor and commissioners praised the students. Erman said the project aims to add vibrancy to the municipal parking lot walls behind 30 Church Street and will include community participation in the final painting.
The board acknowledged the presentation and invited families to view the student art on display.
