Oakland passes FY2026 budget amendment; town manager says fund totals unchanged

The Oakland Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Monday passed ordinance 2603, the second and final reading of the town's fiscal year 2026 budget amendments.
Town Manager Tom Ellis told the board this vote is a routine year-end cleanup: the ordinance shifts money line-to-line within funds but does not change the bottom-line totals for any fund. Ellis said departments are expected to come in under budget and the amendment simply reallocates resources within each fund.
Vice Mayor Kates moved for passage and the board voted to adopt the ordinance on its second and final reading. No public hearing was required; staff noted budget monitoring guidance (MTAS reference) permitting the administrative amendment.
The ordinance does not change the town's total spending authority; it instead aligns line items with anticipated year-end needs.
