Dave Hughes presented two accessory-package purchases at the May 27 work session to upfit a recently purchased 2022 used Ford Explorer and a 2020 Dodge van to serve as a crime-scene vehicle.
Hughes said the total cost for upfitting the used Ford Interceptor is $9,724.64 and $6,322.91 to upfit the 2020 Dodge crime-scene van, for a combined total of $16,047.55. Purchases will be through Global Public Safety Corporation, a vendor the department has used previously. Hughes noted equipment salvaged from a totaled patrol vehicle will be transferred where appropriate to reduce costs; sales of older equipment and vehicles produced proceeds that offset part of the expense.
The board received the presentation; no vote on purchasing was recorded at the work session. Staff will present the formal purchase request as an agenda item at a future meeting if the board elects to proceed.
