Bel Air staff to introduce FY2026 budget amendments including park match and equipment shifts

Lisa summarized the larger amendments: an $80,600 allocation for a Vacarta trailer; roughly $17,500 for survey services related to an annexation with Fred Ward; shifting four patrol vehicle modem replacements and 10 laptop replacements from FY27 into FY26 (about $25,000) to smooth replacement cycles; funding the salary for a new hire (Rachel) beginning in June; and replacing two totaled police vehicles with a net FY26 cost of approximately $17,700 after insurance proceeds. Lisa also outlined other items such as additional tree work and supplemental money for the recreation building roof, with the recreation committee agreeing to fund half of that cost and request billing after completion.
On park funding, staff said the Alice Ann Park project has a total expense of about $170,000, of which $137,500 is grant-funded, leaving an estimated $32,000 local match or funding need. Lisa told the board that many of the smaller amendments could be offset by additional revenues (red light camera receipts, investment interest), salary/benefit savings, or reserves; the resolution was taken as an introduction so full details will be available at the public hearing in June.
No vote was taken at the work session; the resolution will be introduced and is scheduled for a public hearing at the board’s second meeting in June.
