The transfer motion—made from the floor and debated briefly—was framed as a stopgap to reimburse deficit spending from emergency response and to reduce the likelihood of repeated deficit votes next year.
Questions at the microphone focused on the town’s remaining free-cash balance. Mian said the town had roughly $312,000 available after prior allocations and that the FY2027 omnibus budget increases the snow-and-ice appropriation to reduce the risk of deficit spending in future seasons. The voice vote on the transfer was declared unanimous.
After the transfer passed, the special town meeting dissolved and the annual meeting resumed.
