School board approves multi-million-dollar early learning center contracts, grants and policy conversions

Administration recommended and the board approved general-trades, masonry, HVAC, electrical and fire-suppression bid packages for the Early Learning Center. The Pool Group, Inc. was the recommended award for general trades at $8,146,000, masonry was awarded at $1,599,000, HVAC to Cook Mechanical at $3,969,000, and electrical to ETC Systems at $2,830,000. The board approved these bid awards by voice vote.
The board also approved routine operational items including authorization for the superintendent to hire summer-school staff ahead of the next meeting; a districtwide 45-minute early release on Wednesdays for 2026–27 to support collaborative staff time; and submission and receipt of recurring federal and state grants (Title I–IV, special education Part B grants and others).
Financial and contract actions included approval to bond key finance and HR positions (bond limits were presented in the meeting packet), a renewal and expanded contract recommendation for the Vector Solutions staff-training and compliance platform (amounts in the transcript were not clearly readable in all instances), and an engagement letter with Baker Tilly Investment Services related to construction funds.
The consent agenda also included acceptance of donations and grants across district programs — notably a USDA Farm to School grant award of $221,250 to support the Growing Minds Farmtop — and approval of several field-trip requests and personnel reports.
Administrators presented new job descriptions and recommended hires: a Farmtop manager and assistant (to be funded through farmtop profits and grants) and a Student Success Specialist to coordinate work-based learning and career-readiness placements.
