Board adopts tentative amended FY26 budget for public display; tax extension tops $19 million

The La Salle-Peru Township High School District 120 board on May 20 adopted Resolution 2026-9 to approve the tentative amended fiscal year 2026 budget and place it on public display.
Interim Superintendent Mrs. Kushy told trustees the district—s total tax extension will exceed $19 million in 2026, "an increase of over $900,000 since last year," and said the business office and finance committee had reviewed a revised amended budget packet ahead of the vote.
The finance committee had recommended approval after committee review and the board voted by voice to adopt the resolution and make the budget available for public inspection. The amended budget packet presented to the board includes April and May bills and the first-half May payroll to provide a more current view of revenues and expenditures, the superintendent said.
The board set the tentative amended budget on public display as required by statute; the action places the document in the district—s custody for public review and begins the period for public comment consistent with state law.
Next procedural steps will follow the public-display period and any required hearings before final adoption of the budget later in the process.
