Committee approves multiple reappointments and new nominees to boards and commissions

Hanloser described her background as a contractor and a fire‑protection engineer and said that her combination of design and contracting experience helps her interpret complex code issues. The committee moved to confirm and voted to advance her recommendation to the full council.
The committee reappointed Tim Pro to the Fire & Building Code Appeals Board for a term expiring July 19, 2030. Pro described his work as a commercial general contractor and his experience serving as vice chair for his board term; the panel approved the reappointment 5‑0‑0.
Dr. Jeffrey G. Stovall was reappointed to the Board of Health (term expiring July 9, 2031). Stovall, a physician and psychiatrist, said he was still on a learning curve after initially filling a vacancy and spoke to public‑health continuity; the committee approved his reappointment 5‑0‑0.
Tom Sturdivant was appointed to the Traffic & Parking Commission; he described running a transportation business and working daily with downtown flow and parking challenges. The committee approved his appointment 5‑0‑0.
On the Transportation Licensing Commission, the committee considered three nominees for two vacancies and reappointed Erica Penley and Annie Claver to two‑year terms. Penley, an attorney at Bass, Berry & Sims, cited previous work on transportation issues. Claver, a longtime resident and former downtown operator, said she brings operator and resident perspectives to the commission. The committee approved Penley and Claver (votes recorded in committee at 4‑0‑0 and 5‑0‑0 respectively).
The committee also read and approved, by voice vote, a larger slate of nominees it had interviewed previously for commissions including the East Bank Development Authority, Short‑Term Rental Appeals Board, Airport Authority, Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission, Farmers Market Board, Historic Zoning Commission, Midtown CBID and Tourism & Convention Commission (committee vote 6‑0‑0).
Each nominee approved by the committee is scheduled to be forwarded for a full council vote at the next council meeting.
